Pennsylvania Tuxedo Brewed in collaboration with family-run outdoor clothing company Woolrich, Pennsylvania Tuxedo is a sessionable concoction with a grassy citrus kick complemented by the resinous conifer notes of fresh green spruce tips. We went into the forests of north-central Pennsylvania and Georgetown, Del., to pick these fresh tips ourselves. A dry yet doughy malt backbone lets the hops and spruce shine while still balancing out the bitterness, making this one an easy sipper.

Pours clear amber with a thick and fairly persistent pale buff head. Aroma presents hoppy, evergreen and fresh malt character, more IPA than PA. Flavor echoes the aroma nicely, emphasizing evergreen wood over resin but letting the malt have its part. Body and fizz are average, but it goes down nicely. Enjoy the great outdoors!

12 oz bottle. Pours clear reddish gold with a medium creamy off white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet biscuit malt with lots of spicy perfumey spruce.
The flavor is sweet sugary bready malts with a ton of bitter floral spruce and alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, the spruce is interesting but a bit too floral and the beer is a bit too sweet and alcoholic. -

Bottle. Hazy amber with a tall, fluffy tan head. Aroma is very resinous and hoppy with the spruce being noticeable. Taste is sweet malt, floral hops, citrus notes, caramel, hop resins and spruce. Body is medium with a moderate, dense, creamy carbonation. Slightly sticky as well. Ends with more caramel, spruce, conifer resins, hop notes, floral hops, sweet malt and citrus. Nice!

A deeply orange colored beer with a big frothy textured white head rising above. A creaminess in the head settles in and hangs around awhile. There's some bitterness in the nose. On tasting the pine needles are at first disconcerting. But on second and third sip, those pine needles work well in a beer that has some caramel, some earthiness. Moderate smooth, effervescent body.
