Punch Clock Mild Ale is part of the Pro-Am Series… cheers to Mark Pennell, who won the 2015 Beau’s Oktoberfest homebrew contest, earning the prize of brewing his beer in the Beau’s brewhouse for 2016! HISTORY & STYLE: Predominantly malty and moderately hopped, mild ale is a minimalist beer, with British roots that go back to the 17th century. Our interpretation of the style is brewed with Whitbread Golding Variety hops and Vermont Ale yeast. TASTING NOTES: Pours a lightly hazy ruby-brown with a white foam. The aromas suggests chocolate and dried fruit. The flavour consists of chocolate, raisins, a touch of apricot and a light impression of umami. The mouthfeel is relatively full for the low strength, offering mineral notes. The finish is dry, with aftertastes of lightly roasted malt. FOOD PAIRINGS: Lamb shepherd’s pie, pork and sage sausage with mashed potatoes, pork & ham pies, cheddar scones, cardamom shortbread, two-year-old cheddar or Wensleydale cheese.

On tap at Baton Rouge. Pours a small frothy off-white head but doesn’t stay very long. Has a slightly murky dark amber brownish appearance. Some decent sticky lacing. Aromas of light roasted malts, coffee hints. Flavours of roasted malts, lots of coffee notes, some subtle spice hints as well toasty malts. Some mild earthy hop notes. Good retention and average carbonation. Somewhat of a drying and slick mouthfeel. Quite a flavourful brew with a low abv.
