Switchback Ale is an American red ale brewed to celebrate spring and the promise of warmer sunnier days to come. It has a rich red color with a pleasing sweet caramel flavor that comes from four specialty malt varieties. This medium bodied ale is hopped with Cascade hops that have a wonderful fruity character which balance the malt sweetness and give the beer a subtle citrus aroma and flavor. Switchback Ale is extremely smooth and easy drinking

good flavors, malt and cascade hops, but it came out a little thin. not quite boring, but not very exciting either. i'd drink it again, but wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Pours a nice amber with a very sticky-looking lace that does a nice job on the glass. Scent is a nice balance of hops and malt. I gotta say here that RB needs to get a "Red" catagory, as I don’t care for most Ambers, but Reds pique my interest. So if I were to compare this to most Ambers out there it would rate out the roof. Anyway... Flavor is indeed well balanced. Nicely hopped with an almost citrus presence, but very subdued. Rather impressive, but not very complex. Palate is crisp yet creamy, and would do an excellent job of cleansing the palate. Overall, as an Amber it kicks ass, but as a Red it’s pretty good and worth a try.

Bought a six-pack because mountain bikes rock. Thin and orange-gold-tan color, no head with one bottle, huge head the next...we'll call it a medium head. Obviously cascade hops, this tastes like a Full Sail mimic of a Deschutes beer. Mild floral fruits are kind to greasy pub foods and never interfere with the complexities of my Heinz ketchup. "Smooth and easy drinking," they claim (like Busch Light?) and they are right. this beer will never hurt your feelings, but it will not have you itching for another. Just a common NW ale.

This beer pours a surprise..amber red color with a thin soapy white head which dissipated quickly and left a small amount of islandy lacing on the sides of the glass. The aroma is light and grassy with hints of malt, twigs, perhaps a waft of orange peel, but pretty much its just very earthy. The flavor is medium bodied, syrupy and sticky mouthfeel. Pretty much a malty and citrusy flavor dominated brew. Some hints of grapefruit and orange peel yet again with a hint of bitterness near the finish. Long lasting finish, fairly dry finish, but not as much as would have been expected. Malty and somewhat cloying in the finish, but good in its own respect and what it tries to accomplish it does well.

Reddish amber color. Medium head. Aroma is malty. A medium bodied ale. Malts are nutty and carmely and kind of sweet. Hops are grapefruity and citrusy. A touch weak at the finish, but nicely balanced. A nice spring beer. Spritzy carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is smooth and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This beer pours a magnificent foamy off white almost cream coloured head..atop a lovelly dark red beer. Wow what a great aroma for an "amber" beer!!..loads of malt but more Cascade hops spicy ..wonderful. mmm what a great taste ..nice malts to start and great hopping to finish,,though it is not a dry finish..fruity even..nicelly balanced..great stuff. Wonderful on the palate doesnt over-bear! All in all a wonderful amber very drinkable. For me this has to be the one of the best "ambers"..up there with Rogues American Amber..well done good beer.
