Known for the classic "black bear", the mountains of North Carolina are home to the extremely rare "Brown Bear". Though members of the same bear species, the "Brown Bear" has become renowned for its rarity as well as its beautiful chocolate color...traits we hope to emulate in our English style Brown Bear Ale.

Comes out of the tap a barely translucent chocolate brown with an average light tan head. Malty aroma has overtones of caramel and cinnamon. Flavor has a malty core attended by caramel, cinnamon and earthy notes. Texture seems on the thin side, and lacks fizz. Still, it’s an OK beer. Give it a fair shake.

Another beer that I had on tap at Jack of the Wood in Asheville recently:Dark mahogany, nice tan head.Nose is mildly hoppy, caramel and wood. Taste is rich, slightly peppery with a full malted backbone.
