An Imperial Stout, whose Name inspired by the type of beer developed for the Russian court. Cossack comes into its own in combination with a piece of dark chocolate. Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Strong, smoky aroma has quite a fierce alcohol overtone, more what one would expect from a barleywine. Unfortunately, it tends to overwhelm the "stouty" parts of the otherwise quite inviting aroma. It pours a rich, warm sable with a thick and fluffy, if not too persistent, dark chocolaty-tan head. Flavor has roast quality coffee, unsweet chocolate and woody tones with a hint of licorice - alcohol bite is not nearly what the aroma suggests. Smooth, full-bodied texture has plenty of fizz and just a bit of an alcohol nip. Like stouts? Look for this one!

330 ml capped bottle as " Kosacken". Poured in a snifter an absolutly opaque and black coloured Stout with a two fingers tan creamy foamy head thad had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, toffees, notes of fruits, cooked bananas, notes of smoke and ashes. The flavour is heavy roasted malts, heavy roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, spicy, licorice and a touch of acidity. The mouthfeel is a bit fizzy and overall thick. This full bodied ale has a lingering bitter and coffeish finish. A perfect adapted Stout for ending a long day and entering in sweet dreams. A high quality Stout. It 's price ? Also high !

Black opaque colour, small brown head. Aroma is caramel, roasted malts, bready and chocolateish. Flavour is very smooth coffee and milk along with roasted malts, alcohol and caramel. Wellbalanced and totally kickass! One of my definitive favourites at the SBWF 2006.

Opaque black with a huge light brown head. Big and intense aroma of anise, black chocolate, black currant, espresso, dried cherries and white pepper. The flavour is not a intruiging as the aroma but still good. Espresso, dark chocolate and pepper dominates. Long concentrated aftertaste of cocoa and black coffee.
