Full-bodied, roasty ale. As dark and mysterious as the caverns for which it's named. Dark with a chewy, roasty character derived from the use of caramel and dark roasted malts.

The last of my Smoky Mountain brews, poured into my Smoky Mountain pint glass (all thanks to bluesandbarbq). Deep brown body with a rapidly dissipating foamy brown head. Chocolate and roasted malt aromas. Light creamy mouthfeel. A fine-flavored brew; bittersweet chocolate, coffee and roasted malts; finishes a tad thin and lightly tangy-sour.

Pours a dark black colour with a thin tan head. Aromas of bread, chocolate, roasted nuts, and oak. Flavors are mild, yet rich and full on the palate. Satisfying and right on target for the style.

This beer poured a dark black color with a thin head. It had aromas of raosted coffee and flavors of roasted and chocolate malt and a strong malty backbone with little noticeable hops. Had a dry finish. Compliments of Bluesandbarbq.

Pours a nice deep black-brown with a tannish head and ample lacing. Low carbonation. Aromas of toasted malts, coffee, caramel, sweet malts and a very slight earthy smoke. Taste is thick, rich coffee toasted malts with a sweet caramel and very slight smoky peat.

Bottle courtesy of Brentfeesh: Poured a nice dark porter with a small foamy head with average retention. Aroma of smoke and peat in quite intense and surprising as I wasn’t expecting this. Taste is a mix between some subtle smoky malts with some sweet lightly roasted malt. Body is a bit light for the style. I almost wondered if I tasted the same beers as the other folk because I didn’t get any sourness.

Bottle courtesy of Beerandblues2, thanks Brad. Dark opaque pour, with a solid mocha skin atop. Creamy looking head, leaving a nice lacing. Coffee and robust malt, with some faint smoke afterwards. Sweet roasted malts at first, finishing wth smoked chocolatey goodness. Coffee too. Slightly thin bodied, but a good example of the style.

I don’t quite know if my bottle was long past its prime or if this is supposed to taste like this....anyhow here goes. The aroma is alcoholic and sour with hints of lactic sourness...bitterly astringent and aromatic. The pour is a dark brown with a milky tan head and a nice bit of lacing on my glass. The flavor is heavily carbonated, lactic, sour and almost lambic-like... bittering acidity runs rampant throughout this beer. Some chocolate and smoke hints, but overall it tasted nearly lambic-like which does not rule out the possibility for infection, but it seems like a common problem with this beer. I’m not overly impressed here.

Finally a porter that isn’t Imperial, Barrel Aged, Whiskey Soaked or Bourbon Infused. Nice tan lasting head. Funky sourness to the aroma makes me think "here I go again with another crap TN beer". I haven’t had the best luck with this brewer in particular. Taste is lactose and bitter hops followed by chocolate. Not exactly balanced but not offensive either. Creamy smooth but the sour aroma makes me cringe before tasting. I’m not sure where Tuckaleechee Tennesee is, but I’m guessing I wouldn’t want to drink the water there.

Very dary brown with moderate head and nice lacing. Flavor was awesome with caramel and a roasted flavor. I really enjoyed this one. I think PK was having an off day.

Dark, nearly black brew with a decent head. The odor was that of roasted malt and caramel. The first taste disappointed me after a huge build-up by friends. It was not chewy as advertised. It did have a decent taste, but the mouthfeel wasn't up to par. For a porter, seemed watery. I would drink it again, but with lower expectations.
