Even though the label says "Barley Wine Ale" I would be more inclined to call this beer a Strongish ale. Despite the name being a bit misleading I enjoyed the dry & bitter taste of this beer. Like many of their beers, this is an easy drinking beer with a decent aftertaste, though if you're looking for a real Barleywine you should look elsewhere.

This is a simple, solid, straight-forward beer. Easy drinking session type beer that seems more like a Pale Ale than an IPA. This is a beginner beer that might be a good gateway beer for people new to microbrews.

Like much of the Stone line, this is an outstanding beer. I regularly keep the fridge stocked with this brew, especially during the winter months, but I'll happily drink it any time of year.
